Overview:
The purpose of this role is to manage all finance, accounting, and tax functions for the organisation’s fastest growing region, which now includes over 200 staff across 10 countries. Reporting to the Group CFO, this position will work closely with the Regional Managing Director and Area Directors as a key member of the regional leadership team, serving as a strategic partner to positively influence overall business performance.
The role will also collaborate closely with the central Commercial and Legal teams and has the potential to significantly contribute to group wide financial improvements through the application of best practices developed within the region.
With a strong commercial and project driven focus, this newly created role reflects continued growth in the data centre consulting sector and an increasing need to support personnel across multiple jurisdictions, with a projected headcount of 500 as outlined in the strategic plan. Based in the UK, with flexibility for travel as needed, a commercial mindset is essential, along with prior experience in a project based environment.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate the potential to develop into a successor for the current Group CFO.
Role & Responsibilities:
Oversee all finance and accounting functions across the region, collaborating closely with finance and project teams based in the shared service centre.
Lead project reporting and forecasting activities, including a structured and regular project review process.
Develop and manage monthly financial reporting at both project and regional levels, ensuring detailed understanding of performance and contributing to broader group level reporting.
Drive the regional budgeting and financial forecasting process.
Manage and optimise working capital and cashflow throughout the region.
Continuously enhance existing processes and procedures to support and stay ahead of business growth, while also influencing improvements at the group level.
Liaise with local authorities to ensure statutory compliance, supporting the timely completion and filing of returns, and coordinating with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with group transfer pricing policies, supporting effective financial collaboration across regions.
Conduct regular reviews of VAT and tax strategies across the region, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
Provide financial support and strategic guidance to regional and area leadership.
Assist group finance in fulfilling lender reporting and related requirements.
Support the CFO on various initiatives and projects at a group wide level.
This role will support the business operations across the UK and Europe, reporting directly to the Group CFO, while serving as an integral and collaborative member of the regional management team.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Qualified member of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g. CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA).
Substantial experience in a project accounting environment, with a solid understanding of what ‘good’ looks like in practice.
Strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to influence financial outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive improvements in a dynamic and evolving business.
Hands-on approach with the ability to maintain a strategic outlook while managing detail where required.
Confident, collaborative team player with the credibility to engage effectively at all levels across and outside the business.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
