Overview

Pearse Professionals is supporting a rapidly scaling cleantech organisation looking to appoint a Head of Commercial Finance. This is a high impact leadership position responsible for driving financial insight, performance management, and strategic planning across a multi-entity group.

This opportunity is ideal for a commercially minded finance leader with strong FP&A, business partnering, and data driven decision making experience within fast growing, operationally complex environments.

With ambitious expansion plans, including international growth - this role offers significant scope for development, increased leadership accountability, and deeper involvement in strategic decision making.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Commercial Finance & FP&A function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, and group-wide performance reporting.

  • Partner with senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making, providing insight into pricing, margin optimisation, investment cases, and growth planning.

  • Own financial planning cycles, including Group budget creation, monthly variance analysis, KPI development, and structured reporting rhythms.

  • Drive operational and analytical excellence, implementing new tools, automation, ERP/FP&A integrations, and improving data quality and reporting speed.

  • Support strategic initiatives, including M&A evaluation, funding scenarios, business case development, and capital allocation modelling.

  • Strengthen governance and compliance, introducing improved frameworks such as transfer pricing, reporting controls, and support for regulatory submissions.

  • Develop and scale the team, managing direct reports and growing a high-performing commercial finance function to support business expansion.

Experience & Skills Required

  • 7+ years in industry within commercial finance, FP&A, or strategic finance roles

  • Strong background in financial modelling, forecasting, and large data-set analysis

  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing decision making

  • Track record of delivering operational improvements, automation, or system enhancements

  • Exposure to high growth or multi-entity businesses is advantageous

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Strong analytical, commercial, and mathematical capability

  • Effective team leader; able to develop others and build function-wide capability

  • Confident operating in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments

  • High proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, and familiarity with Xero or similar systems
